13 - BATTISTERO PALEOCRISTIANO DI MARCELLIANUM O DI SAN GIOVANNI IN FONTE In località fonti, ai piedi delle pendici calcaree delle Serre di San Leonardo, vi sono i ruderi di questo notevole edificio dedicato al culto del Battista che risale alla fine del IV sec. Anticamente a pianta quadrata, fu poi trasformato alterandone in parte la struttura; su una delle pareti vi sono tracce di affreschi risalenti all'XI e XII sec. Il battistero fu costruito su un 'antica sorgente fatta incanalare nel fonte battesimale, così da alimentarlo perennemente,. Ancora oggi crea un motivo di grande suggestione con i giochi d'acqua.
